Can someone please correct me but does a gift normally require a thank you? I know a gift isn't given with a thought of a return but I know if I receive flowers or something I do say thank you. Of course I was taught manners could be the difference.

Hmm, I am not sure about the whole etiquitte piece of it, but I think most do. Not always a note, but at least verbal. (They did say thank you Mom)
